Andrew James is a Solicitor and heads up Echelon Law’s Private Client Department which offers services including: Wills advice and preparation, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA), Probate and estate administration, the creation and management of trusts and wealth protection and Inheritance Tax planning.

Whether a client needs assistance with planning for the future to minimise potential tax liabilities, writing a will to ensure that their wishes are carried out or dealing with the estate of loved ones who have sadly passed away Andrew and his team have the necessary experience to help.

With two university degrees, Andrew completed the Legal Practice Course with distinction and is an affiliate member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners).


The property department of the firm is led by Mr Nicholas Buckley who has been practising law since 1977. Mr Buckley has extensive knowledge of property law, and experience in both residential and commercial conveyancing, locally in Swindon and throughout England and Wales.


Mrs Brenda Wong Robinson is a Swindon based bi-lingual English and Cantonese speaking family lawyer. She is also conversant in Mandarin and has found (since qualifying as a Solicitor in 1987) that her language skills and upbringing in Hong Kong are incredibly useful attributes, especially when dealing with Chinese clients unfamiliar with English language or custom.

Professionally Mrs Wong Robinson has been with the firm since 1995. As head of the Family Law Department she is a member of the Law Society Family Law Panel. She is a Family Law specialist with Resolution and she has been a Collaborative Family Lawyer since 2006 as well as a Family Law Mediator.


Andrew is a solicitor with more than 30 years of experience in residential property conveyancing, and finds that one of the most rewarding aspects of his role is enabling his clients to achieve their move within their chosen timescale and with as much knowledge of their chosen new home as possible.

Andrew started his legal career with a firm of solicitors in Hampshire before moving to Wiltshire in 1993. He joined Pooleys, now part of the Echelon Law group, in 2010, since which time he has served clients in the Swindon area and also throughout the country by acting in a wide range of residential property transactions including the sale, purchase, transfer and re-mortgage of freehold and leasehold properties both new and old, registered and unregistered.


Jan is an institution at the firm having been with us longer than any other member of staff. He is an expert in Wills and Probate and being a local man, Jan has helped many Swindon families navigate the process over the years.


Having graduated with a First Class Law degree, Alisha studied the LPC MSc at the University of Law in Bristol, completing the course in June 2021. She is currently completing her training contract with Echelon Law and will qualify as a Solicitor in March 2023.

Alisha has extensive experience in dealing with all private client matters from complex Wills to the administration of estates.


Joanna Navarrete joined the firm in November 2020 assisting within the Private Client Department. Joanna is currently studying to become a qualified paralegal in the Private Client Sector.

She assists with Probate matters, Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Trusts. She has excellent communication skills and supports clients through what can often be a very difficult time. Joanna continuously ensures that she is providing the best quality of work and takes pride in being cheerful, productive and attentive to client needs.

Joanna has aspirations of becoming a Chartered Legal Executive in the near future, a goal she is well on the way to achieving.


Caroline Hunt is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives who started her career with The Hillman Partnership Solicitors in early 1986. She offers a fast, responsive Conveyancing service. With honest, no-nonsense advice from a Legal Executive with many years of experience. She provides competitive all-inclusive quotes and free telephone consultation if you wish to discuss the matter further.

Caroline does have extensive local knowledge, is an approved Lawyer for a Housing Association and has a wide knowledge of Shared Ownership Schemes and Social Housing.

Caroline is also an Accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly and undertakes Wills, Probate, Registration of Enduring Powers of Attorney, preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney and registration at the Court of Protection.


Remia studied LLB at Cardiff University and thereafter completed LLM in International Business Law from Kings College London in 2014. She studied the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Guildford and undertook her training contract at Wannops LLP, a regional firm in West Sussex.

Prior to joining Hillman Pooley, Remia worked at the Residential Property, Farms and Estate Department at Royds Withy King, a Legal 100 firm.

Remia has a wealth of experience in the property sector having advised clients on all aspects of the property transaction including sales, purchases, new build property matters, re-mortgages, lease extensions etc.

Remia is fluent in Malayalam and has a strong client base in the South Indian community.


I am a Family Law Paralegal and am currently studying in Legal Practice Course part time after which I will start my training contract with Hillman Pooley. I assist Brenda Robinson with Matrimonial, Financial and Children Matters. My career goal is to qualify as a Family Law Solicitor and specialise in Children and Matrimonial matters, as I find this area most applicable and rewarding.
